If you recall, when they were born Max weighed 3.3 pounds (3 pounds 5 ounces) and Sam weighed 4.1 pounds (4 pounds 2 ounces). The US system of measurement is terrible, and ounces in particular are annoying to work with, so I'll present everything in terms of only pounds from now on. Max's weight is now 4.3 pounds, he's gained an entire pound! There is 30% more Max in this world than there was just two weeks ago.

Sam now weighs 4.6 pounds, so he's up half a pound from when he was born. He started bigger, and remains a bit bigger, but the gap is closing.

As an aside, with Max catching up to Sam's size, it's becoming more difficult for me to tell them apart (Amanda says it's still easy for her though). I'm looking forward to having them home so I can see them side by side, just to make sure I know which is which. My brother and I are two years apart so we were never this similar in size, but my Dad is still in trouble for the times he's mistakenly called one of us by the wrong name.
Both Sam and Max are progressing on their feeding plans. Not only are their weights increasing, but so far they've always been able to bottle feed the required amounts in order to progress to the next step. In fact, if Sam continues to succeed every time, he could be ready to come home at the end of this week! This is really exciting, but we're tempering our expectations since there is still uncertainty, and it might take more time. Max is about three days behind Sam, since he was smaller at birth it took him a bit more time to get started on the same plan. We'll keep everyone posted on their progress.
As always, here are some bonus photos:

Andrew- I do see a resemblance! Max is really catching up- how wonderful watching them both grow. Do you think you'll take them home different times or do you have the option of waiting for them to come home together? You must both be exhausted. You are all doing a great job. You guys are perfect parents!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to at least zoom them. So glad you set up this blog. It has been invaluable for all of us.
