Sam and Max are one month old

Max left and Sam right (yes, this is the best picture we had from this shoot)

Sam and Max were born on April 21st, making them one month old today. It's hard to believe they've already been around for a month! The first few weeks were relatively easy, visiting them in the NICU for just a few hours per day. Full time parenting with Sam for a few days, and double full time parenting since Max came home has been much more difficult. The sheer volume of work that is required around the clock is exhausting, and we greatly appreciate the support that we've received so far.

Although the boys are one month old, virtually all developmental milestones are relative to their original due date and not their date of birth. They were born six weeks prematurely, with their full term due date being June 4th, so we can expect all milestones to be met about a month and a half later than their birth age would suggest. Most newborns take about three to six months before they sleep through the night, so we can expect this to take from four and a half to seven months for the twins. The following smiles do not accurately reflect our feelings about this.

Anyway, you're all here for the cute pictures, so here they are:

  1. So much better with grandparents in the picture!! The boys are getting more adorable daily. I do question expectations of sleeping throughout the night by 3 or 6 months. I NEVER found that time accurate. I wish you the best on that one. ENJOY and SLEEP when you can.
