Sam and Max meet Grandpa and Nonie

It's been an unusually eventful week for Sam and Max, so buckle up, this blog post is going to be a big one! This past Wednesday Max had his EarWells removed, revealing his ears which have been hidden for the past six weeks.

We're quite pleased with how everything turned out. If you recall, our primary motivation wasn't about the shape of the ears, but rather we were concerned that they got bent forward when he turned from side to side. I'm happy to report that this no longer occurs, and now when Max lies on a side his ear remains flat against his head. I think his ears are quite cute (I might be biased), and I'm glad that they wont get uncomfortably bent anymore.

Later in the week Sam and Max finally got to meet their Grandpa Rob and Nonie! It was a wonderful visit. Amanda was especially happy, since it had been so long since the last time she saw her dad in person. Rob was excited to finally meet his first (and for now, only) grandchildren.

It was great connecting with family, catching up, and making some introductions. Rob and Janet live about a two-hour-drive away, which means we won't get to see them all that often, so we'll have to make the most of it when we do get to visit with them.

And finally, I'd like to thank Amanda's generous friends for bringing us more food this week. I did wind up getting a photo of one of the dishes I mentioned in the previous blog post.

I'm starting to feel a bit spoiled with all these wonderful meals. We'll be sure to return the favor, or pay-it-forward when our friends and family have their own newborns, because it certainly adds comfort to the challenging time of caring for a new baby, or two!
