Sleeping best

Sam and Max looking fresh

Sam and Max are sleeping through the night! In a previous post I mentioned that they had reduced to a single night-feed, which was moving further and further back each day. On the night of August 3rd, their feed pushed all the way back until about 7am and merged with their first feed of the day, hourrah! When the boys reduced from two feeds per night to one, it was a classic "two steps forward, one step back" pattern. They did a few days in a row of one feed per night, then had a day where they wanted to be fed twice again, and back and forth for a little while until they firmly landed on only one feed per night. Sleeping through the night so far appears to be similar. Most nights since August 3rd the boys have slept through peacefully, except once when Sam was whining every couple hours all night long. We aren't yet completely confident that Sam and Max will sleep through on any given night, but overall they're doing great.

I'm especially pleased, because this development is on the really early side. Since their original due date was June 4th, they're basically sleeping through the night at two-months developmental age. In absolute terms, since they were born on April 21st one could argue that it's three-and-a-half months. Either way you look at it, they're doing amazing, and it feels like winning. What wonderful little jelly beans!

Detective Sam continues his investigation into the case of the red zebra

Recently the boys have started to gaze intently at the toys on their bouncy chairs. Sam really really loves looking at the red zebra. The yellow lion and the colorful ball are of little interest to him. Perhaps one day Detective Sam will crack the case and share his findings with us.
