Sequim

Dad, Max, Mom and Sam in the lavender fields

This past weekend we travelled to Sequim, out on the Olympic Peninsula, to visit Amanda's friends Marta and Steve, and their two boys Kenny and Joey. It was a bit hectic, but a (mostly) fun experience for Sam and Max.

Sequim has many lavender farms (apparently it grows quite well in the area) so we visited one to see the fields.

Sam really liked it

Max didn't like it quite as much

Apparently all the different ice-creams were a combination of lavender and other flavors, but none of us could actually taste the lavender. I suspect it was just regular ice-cream that happened to be sold by the farm to tourists looking for a treat.

We visited with our friends on both Saturday and Sunday, but we stayed overnight at a BnB nearby.

The view from the BnB was nice

The above moment was especially peaceful for me after a long day of travel and entertaining the boys. I enjoyed just sitting on the porch and relaxing. In the morning Max and Sam got the rare opportunity to play in Mom and Dad's bed.

Later on Sunday morning we went to the beach, specifically the Marlyn Nelson County Park at Port Williams.

After the beach we visited a small local grocery store (Agnew Grocery) that also happens to have animals on display. I'm not quite sure why they have the animals, other than drawing in tourists. Maybe that's reason enough?

In the afternoon we headed back to Seattle and visited Grandma's for dinner, as we usually do on Sundays. It was really hot out so Grandma had the forethought to put out a wading pool in the back yard. Max really loved it, which is great because he didn't enjoy the sprinkler the previous week. Sam had fun too.

Max had a great time splashing in the water

The weekend was absolutely packed, which is nice because Seattle summers go by so quickly, but I am looking forward to a more relaxing time next weekend. Sam and Max sure had a lot of fun though!

  2. I presume that Kenny is the same "freeloader" at the rehearsal dinner, right?
