Sam and Max are three!

Last weekend felt like a non-stop festival of friends, family, gifts and cake. Sam and Max
loved all the cake they got to eat for their birthdays. What is it with three-year-olds and cake?

Our latest family photo from the Sunday celebration

On Friday (their actual birthday) they started off the day right with some cake immediately following breakfast, which you can see the boys scarfing down.

Sam preferred the "no hands" technique

Max made good use of his fork...

... but still needed his hands for the occasional bite

Sam finally used his fork after several reminders, but still he needed big bites

Let the present bonanza begin!

Thank you to our nanny, Lorena, for kicking off the birthday celebrations with cake, some presents (the construction site above) and some balloons for the boys. On Saturday morning we opened some gifts as a family, shown below.

We often visit the nearby Children's Museum at the Seattle Center. We rented one of the party rooms to host a celebration for friends with similar aged kids. I was happy to feed a whole bunch of screaming toddlers cake, and then get to leave and not have a big mess at our house! It was worth every penny.

It's time for the second round of cake!

Everyone sang

Sam still likes making silly faces for pictures, but we think it's cute. On Sunday we headed up to Grandma and Baba's house for a gathering of family and, you guessed it, more cake.

The boys were once again thoroughly stuffed with cake at this point. I'm fairly certain the boys are now entirely composed of cake. Thanks to Uncle Nick for making the delicious cupcakes!

The weekend was a lot of fun for the boys, and we were happy to celebrate with so many family and friends. Now comes the tricky job of getting rid of old toys without Sam and Max noticing so that we can make enough room for all the new gifts. Thanks for reading, until next time!
