Sam and Max visit Sequim

This past weekend we made our annual pilgrimage to Sequim, WA to visit our friends Marta and Steve, and their two boys Kenny (6) and Joey (2). Amanda and I have been out to Sequim several times, but this is only the second time we've taken Sam and Max. Like the previous time, the boys enjoyed the ferry ride and liked playing with Kenny and Joey, and especially all their toys.

We traveled to Sequim on Saturday, and in the afternoon we visited a local creamery. The boys had ice cream, which Max really enjoyed, but Sam didn't like so much. Sam doesn't really like ice cream for some reason; we think he finds it too cold. The creamery also had some calves which you could pet, and an area where you could feed hay to the cows.

Sam and Max haven't spent much time around animals, so they were pretty suspicious of the calves.

Sam laughed when he managed to get hay on the cows' heads

Max also had a fun time playing in the hay

It turned out that feeding hay to the cows was so much fun for all the boys that we basically spent our whole afternoon at the creamery, letting the boys play in the hay. I wouldn't have guessed this ahead of time, but the weather was beautiful and the boys were having a good time so we just went with it.

The next day after breakfast we visited the beach Port Williams. We came here last year and have some pictures from the same area.

I like Max's glasses. Sam had a pair too at one point, but I'm not sure if we still have them or if they've been lost.

Sam really liked throwing rocks into the ocean

We're still not sure if Sam and Max are left handed or right handed. Sam threw rocks with both hands and seemed equally skilled (i.e., not very skilled, he's only three!) with each hand.

I remember when my nieces were around this age, they'd make funny faces whenever we asked them to smile. Sam and Max are no exception. Some kids don't quite know how to smile and just wind up making cute (and silly) faces whenever a camera is around.

Sam and Joey

Joey is a great poser, and likes posing for cameras.

It was basically impossible to get all the boys to cooperate for a photo together on the log. Of all the pictures I took this was the best one. Maybe next year we'll manage to get four squirmy boys to sit still for five seconds. Until next time!
